On the 12th October 2019, the UK came together under the banner of Yourcitysaysno to unite against serious youth violence. This wasn't a protest but more of a show of solidarity in different communities across the UK that have been affected by Youth Violence. This was a joint effort between Bereaved families and friends, local grass roots organisations, local service providers and local people that feel affected by the huge loss of life in the UK.
The event in Croydon was supported by Ronell and the Undiscovered Talent UK team who provided and opportunity for young people and other talent groups to showcase their talents in the Centrale shopping centre. Our very own Eugene Scardifield also read his poem which was dedicated to his brother Michael who was also murdered.
Despite the rain people came to support the important cause and with the support of local police we were able to walk through the town centre down to Queens Gardens where we held a minutes silence at 3pm alongside the other 45 towns and cities in the UK that took part.
Thank you to everyone that took part. There are images of all the other places that contributed on the day in our gallery.
